THIRD QUARTER
SPANISH I

Week from May 29th to June 1st.
Students will be creating a presentation in Spanish about the Latin American countries facts, research and create a professional presentation on PowerPoint about one specific country.
Week from May 21th to May 25th
Students will take their Final exams on monday and tuesday. By Wednesday students will start to work on their last IB project of this year.
Week from May 14th to May 18th.
Students will have a pre-test (Final Practice) on monday, then they will complete a review worksheet by filling in the sentences with the proper form of the reflexive verb in the reflexive tense including the reflexive pronoun and Present progressive forms, also we will review numbers, irregulars verbs, regulars verbs and vocabulary for the final.
Week from May 7th to May 11th.
Students will finish to learn about the history of the Latin languages and influence of French in the English language, William the Conquer England 1066 also about the history of the Spanish Language, Kingdom of Castile, The Moros, Kingdom of Spain and its world expansion in the Americas. (Due to FSA Test, schedule changes and won't be possible to learn about the Aztecs, Mayans and Incas Culture). By the middle/end of this week we will start to review all the material for the final on May 21st and 22nd.
Week of April from 30th to May 4th.
Students will learn about the history of the Latin languages and influence of French in the English language, William the Conquer England 1066 also about the history of the Spanish Language, Kingdom of Castile, The Moros, Kingdom of Spain and its world expansion in the Americas, Florida and Latin America, overview of Mayans, Aztecs and Incas colonization, history of Spanish Language and its influence. On Friday Students will have a Quiz.
Week of April from 23th to 27th.
Students will learn how to express permission or prohibition using the combination of “se puede” or “no se puede”, Students will be able to indicate which objects are recyclable and will be able to apply the correct preterite tense form of the verb in the sentence when provided two choices, Students will complete a written vocabulary review.
Week of April from 16th to 20th.
Students will finish their IB Project Criterion D, Students will practice and translate whole sentences from Spanish into English and English into Spanish in Present and Preterit tense, by the end of the week students will have a project translating a popular Spanish song.
Week of April from 9th to 13th.
Students will keep working on their IB Project Criterion C and D, Students will create their own short story in Spanish and present it to the class also in Spanish. (Please see/download the rubric on this Website)
Week of April from 2nd to 6th.
Students will start to work on their IB Project, Students will learn the basic elements of a short story, will watch a short story video and will answer questions about a short story watched at classroom. (Please see/download the rubric on this Website)
Week of March from 19th to 22th
Students will learn about the history of the Spanish language and Spain also will learn about the Culture of Spain trough the movie Ferdinand.
Week of March from 12th to 16th.
Students will continue learning vocabulary on past tense and geography, Also by the middle of this week we will do a review for the test on Friday march 16th, students are allowed to use their dictionaries during the test.
Week of March 5th to 9th
Students will finish to learn numbers in spanish and continue learning vocabulary on past tense, Also to help all students to bring their grades up, this week we will have a verbal test where students will prepare and hold a short dialogue in Spanish, Most students are better in pronunciation and speak than writing. (Friday march 16th. will take place the last exam for this quarter, students are allowed to use their dictionaries during the test)
Week of January 26th to March 2nd.
Students will continue learning vocabulary related to geography by the middle or end of this week, students will learn how to conjugate the irregular forms of the preterite of decir and hacer. (On march 16th. will take place the last exam of this quarter, student always are allowed to use dictionary in the test)
Week of January 20th to 23th.
Students will learn vocabulary related to the universe and geography combined with prepositions. (Quiz will be take place this coming Friday 23th.)
Week of January 12th to 16th.
Students will Learn how and when to use the prepositions in Spanish. On Friday 16th, Students will have a Quiz on Prepositions and vocabulary learned.
Week of January 5th to 9th.
Due to take your child to work day and high absence Exam will take place on monday 02/05.
Students will start to work in the a conjugation book in the preterit tense.
Week of January 29th to February 02
Students will be reviewing for the test on Friday 02/02 and will begin working on a class project. They will make a conjugation book in the preterit tense.
Week of January 22th to 26th.
Students will keep learning useful expressions and vocabulary related to travel in preterit tense in Spanish. Friday 26th, will be an open journal Quiz. (On Friday February 02/2018, will take place the 1st exam for this quarter) Schedule and lessons plans subject to change due to past weeks Benchmark .
Week of January 16th to 19th.
Students will keep learning useful expressions and vocabulary related to travel and will be introduced to the “preterit” tense in Spanish. Friday 19th, will be an open journal Quiz. (On Friday February 02/2018, will take place the 1st exam for this quarter)
Week of January 9th to 12th.
Students will learn useful expressions and vocabulary related to travel and Students will be able to use present tense verbs to describe how they are traveling. (The use of journal and dictionary is a must and will be grade it) On Friday 12th. Students will have a Quiz on vocabulary about traveling.
SECOND QUARTER
Week of December 18th to 22th
We will go over the midterm exam and work on IB projects. (Student will be allow to use most time in class to finish delay assignments before Wednesday 20th). Also if times allow it students will learn about traditions and celebrations within the Spanish-speaking Countries. They will learn about “Noche Buena”, “Navidad” “Fin de Año” and “Día de los Reyes” . In addition, students will watch a small video clip about these traditions and celebrations.
Week of December 11th to 15th
We will mainly continue with review for the midterm exam and start to work in IB project. Areas to be Cover for Midterm exam are: Regulars and Irregulars verbs, Reflexive Verbs, Present Progressive and Gerundio, Symptoms and illnesses, Commands, Professions. Use sentences with "A mi me gusta or A mi no me gusta" and "Querer Viajar a....... para......" . Prepositions and Connectors.
Week of December 4th to 8th
We will start the week making a book for review "Libro de respaso" students will be assigned to make this individual book with important knowledge acquired this past 2 quarters and will be useful to start with the review for the midterm exam on Friday December 15th.
By the middle/ending of this week we will review and conjugate more present progressive verbs in their irregular form and prepare for the Quiz on Friday 8th which only will content Present progressive (Presente Continuo) and participles or Gerundio forms.
Week of November 27th to December 1st.
We will continue reviewing and making sentences with present progressive also Students will learn how to conjugate the verbs “querer” and “viajar” in the present tense. They will understand that the verb “viajar” must be followed by the preposition “a”. In addition, students will put these two verbs together in the same sentence to create sentences. Students will begin working on their IB Projects Traveling Around the world.
The exam in Professions, Commands and present progressive for this Week will take place on Friday 12/01 (Subject to Change Due to past holidays).
